Admissions Applications
We warmly welcome all children whose parents/carers wish them to attend our school and enjoy the particular ethos and good primary education it provides.
As places at St Mary's are highly sought after, we strongly encourage prospective parents/carers to read our Admissions Policy carefully, so that they are familiar with the criteria that are used to rank applications in the event of over subscription. There is a link to our policy at the bottom of this page.
RECEPTION CLASS NORMAL ADMISSIONS ROUND
Parents/carers of children who are due to join Reception Class in the September intake will need to make their applications through Essex County Council between October and January of the school year before the child is due to start school. We welcome parents/carers to attend our open sessions in the autumn, or to make a private appointment to meet the Headteacher, Mrs Denham-Hale, and visit the school. Please contact us on 01621 782626 or admin@st-marys-burnham.essex.sch.uk for further details.
Applications for Reception Class places are made to the Local Authority, not directly to the school. We are not informed of the position of St Mary's in the order of preference on your application form and we do not know which schools you have applied for. The Local Authority will notify us of the names of all families who have placed St Mary's on their application form and we rank the applications according to our Admissions Criteria and return the list to Essex County Council, so that they may coordinate the offer of places.
After Essex has informed us that you have applied for a place at St Mary's, we will send you a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) that you will need to complete and return directly to us. This is a very important document, as it includes information that enables us to rank your applications against our Admissions Criteria.
Further information is available through the Essex County Council website http://www.essex.gov.uk/Education-Schools/Schools/Admissions/Pages/Admissions.aspx
ADMISSIONS IN OTHER YEAR GROUPS OR OUTSIDE OF THE NORMAL RECEPTION ADMISSIONS ROUND
These applications should be made directly to the school, using the application form below. You should also submit a Supplementary Information Form (SIF), which is available below.
If you are making a mid-year application, we strongly encourage you to contact us and make an appointment for you and your child to meet Mrs Denham-Hale and take a tour of the school. We will try to arrange a taster session, once your child has been offered a place if this is possible.
